What is phentermine and what it is used for:
Phentermine is a product (an appetite suppressant) which inhibits excessive appetite. It suppresses hunger and thereby facilitates dietary control and weight loss. Phentermine drug substance is bound in the form of polystyrene sulfonate, of which it is gradually being released in the body. The slow release of the drug substance results in a continuous anorectic effect persisting for minimum eight hours. Phentermine is designed as a supportive treatment in the diet of patients with obesity and a body mass index (BMI) above 30, and of patients, for whom reducing diet alone is not sufficient to decrease body weight. It is, therefore, a supporting drug that should not replace diet and regular physical activity.
Do not take phentermine: if you are allergic to phentermine, if you have any heart disease, if you are less than 21 years old, if your are pregnant
or breastfeeding, if you have thyroid disease, if you have high blood pressure.
Adverse drug reactions: Like all medicines, Phentermine may also have adverse effects.The product is generally well tolerated but you may experience dizziness, headache, insomnia, nervousness, irritability, dry mouth, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea.
Dosage: Use 1 tablet daily before breakfast or two hours after breakfast for 4-8 weeks (maximum 3 months).Tablets should be taken whole and need to be drunk with plenty of fluids.The product should not be used in the evening because the drug substance may cause nervousness and insomnia. Do not take phentermine more often or in higher doses than prescribed, as this may lead to addiction.
